Massage Recovery Treatments
What massage treatments do I offer?
• Deep tissue/sports massage
• Remedial and relaxation massage
• Pregnancy (and post birth) massage
• Chair massages (see details below)
I offer deep tissue sports, remedial/relaxation and pregnancy massage for people who are looking to support their health and physical function. Massage therapy is the practice of applying manual pressure to the superficial and deeper layers of fascia, muscle and connective tissue using the fingers, palms, forearms and elbows.
New clients will receive an assessment, which often includes a postural analysis and range of motion assessment to establish which muscles are involved in any areas of tension/pain and to establish the course of action for treatment. It also provides a good benchmark to work from to track how your therapy is working.
More about each treatment type can be read below.

About Deep Tissue Massage
• Recurring aches and pains and postural imbalances
• Ongoing maintenance to reduce training down-time
• Event preparation and post event recovery
• Injury and/or re-injury prevention
This type of massage therapy focuses heavily on the area of pain and tension, working to ease the symptoms and facilitate restoration by realigning the muscle fibres and connective tissue, improving blood flow, decreasing scar tissue and flushing away toxins. The movements are slow and work deep into the tissue and muscle. This deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing general or chronic muscle tension and pain. Regular sessions will help to increase joint mobility and flexibility and reduce the risk of injury or re-injury.

About Remedial & Relaxation Massage
• Ease muscular tension and reduce stress
• Relax, unwind and feel rejuvenated
A general relaxation (Swedish style) massage, without the deeper pressure of a sports massage, helps to stimulate blood and lymph circulation, increase oxygen to the muscles, flush toxins, reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and enhance sleep. If you’re experiencing aches, pains or limited motion in specific areas of your body, or just need to look after your own wellbeing, a massage can help you deeply relax and unwind and, if needed, can be the first step towards being pain free.

About Pregnancy Massage
• Take some time out to relax and unwind before the birth
• Destress and take care of your physical and emotional wellbeing
• Relieve discomfort and reduce fluid retention
As with a general relaxation massage, a pregnancy massage will focus on the areas of tension or discomfort that are typical during pregnancy such as; a sore lower back and pain around the hips, tired and puffy feet and lower legs, and tightness in the upper back and neck. The pressure is carefully adjusted according to the client's needs and the area of the body being worked on, but is generally aimed at being soothing rather than deep.
I use a full length body pillow to provide plenty of support in a comfortable side-lying position. Generally a pregnancy massage would involve working around the lumbar and hip area, along each side of the spine and up into the shoulders and neck. Most women also love to have their lower legs and feet included. Depending on the client's preference, I use either a plain beeswax balm or a relaxing balm containing the essential oils of lavender, pettigrain, ylang ylang & orange. It smells divine.
A massage during pregnancy can be incredibly soothing for a mother-to-be and can help to reduce any feelings of stress or anxiety. It also provides relief from tired or sore muscles, increases blood and lymph circulation to help reduce swelling, and helps to reduce stress on weight-bearing joints. The massage will also provide a feeling of well-being and emotional calmness.

30 Minute Chair Massage
These are conducted with the client staying fully clothed and sitting on a purpose-built massage chair in a fully relaxed and supported position with leg, arm and face supports. You lean forward face down into the face-cradle and can completely relax. These are really effective massages working all the way down the spine, through the lower back, around the hips and up through the upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and finishing with the head (if desired). There's no special preparation or change of clothes involved so it's very easy and convenient with no messy oils or balms and no feeling of unease.
This can also be very effective if you have a particularly sore lower back where lying face down on the massage table may make things feel worse.
Corporate Massages
Chair massages can be provided for corporate events or workplace group bookings. These are typically 15 minutes in duration per person at a cost of $20ea, or $80 per hour (minimum 3 hours booking). Alternatively, I can provide vouchers for your staff to come to my clinic for a massage (either on chair or massage table).
Enquiries welcome.
